I always get rather excited when I find little ways to save a few dollars here and there. After finding these savings I like to share my little hidden gems with other people. In most cases, I have found that most people haven't found these little gems either.
Now for some, they feel they have better things to do with their time or their time is more valuable to spend doing some of the things to save a few dollars. Understandable!!
But if you are like me and you like small instant gratification, then in these weekly blogs I will teach you a few of the ways I have saved or earned a few dollars here and there.
So for week three let's talk about Ibotta. This one has been around for several years. As time goes on Ibotta seems to get a little better each passing year. To be honest, I am shocked when I speak to someone about Ibotta and they are clueless about what I'm talking about.

So what it is? It is an app on your phone where you go through the weekly offers of products and add them to your profile. Then when you go to the store if you buy any of those added items you get cash back added to your profile. Once you reach $20 in your profile you can send the money to yourself via paypal or use it towards giftcards.
Using the app is very simple. You download the app, build your profile, use my referral code to help us both out, then start looking for offers in the stores you frequent and shop. You will add the items you buy or might buy by simply clicking on the plus sign.
How do you get the credit once you add the item and purchase it? You simply click on the redeem option at the bottom of the page. You will then choose the store you shopped at. Ibotta will then have you upload a picture of your receipt by taking a picture of it using your phone camera. You will then click on the items you purchased to receive credit and submit.
Ibotta may have you add loyalty cards for some stores. If you shop at a store where you added your loyalty card then once you add your items, completed your shopping, your information will be sent to Ibotta from the store. Easy right! You should receive credit for the items added and purchased within a day or two.
I have used the online offers a handful of times. The offers are minimal but something is always better than nothing. So if you shop via Amazon often then you could potentially get back a nice small percentage. The online offers usually seem to take a while longer to post to your account than the receipt offers.
I used to buy my dog food from Petsmart and receive 10% offer on all purchases. That was a great savings when I was purchasing a $50 bag of food every few weeks. That particular offer no longer exists but there are still stores who offer similar cash back opportunities. Explore in the app and find the offers for your frequented stores. You might be surprised at their offers.
It doesn't hurt to try the app and see if the offers will allow you a good cash back opportunity. I tend to buy the same items over and over at the store but most are not Ibotta offers so it does take me a while to accumulate enough cash back offers to reach the required cash out limit of $20. To date with offers here and there, I am close to a $200 lifetime total. It was $200 on things I would have purchased and was able to get cash back so to that is a win.
I tried the pay through Ibotta and hated it. I wouldn't recommend that function of Ibotta but feel free to see if it fits your lifestyle better.
