CBD and Josie weeks 5 and 6

Okay so I missed a week last weekend. Honestly I didn't feel that much had changed so I decided to wait until this week. We have finished giving Josie the entire first bottle. Now we can rightly compare the difference from start to the finish of the first bottle.
1. Soreness after exercise: If we go for an extremely long walk out on conversation land where she is running all over the place, then yes she will be sore later in the day. The difference is the time period is now takes for her to recover. Previously that would have been into the next day. Now it might be the end of the day. She takes a dog nap and seems to be okay.
2. Level of play: I remember trying to get her to play fetch and though she would want to, I was the one retrieving whatever I tossed. She would look at me like I was crazy for thinking she was going to go that far to retrieve something. Present day, we play more. She will play fetch for a longer time period than before. We took her to see her brother tonight and she dog played with him. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw her do that.
3. Mood: So this might just be my opinion but I feel like she in a better mood. I call her name and she runs to me. I see excitement in her movements.
4. Bravery: This is funny, not so funny! I caught her trying to steal food from the counter. She hadn't done that in forever. She couldn't jump up and hold herself up to do it. I told my husband and he didn't believe me. Thanks CBD oil,  you made her a thief again. She has also gotten a little adventurous going into the neighbors yards.
5. Cost:
This bottle cost around $70. That might be a big price tag for some. We haven chosen to sacrifice other places to provide our Josie girl the ability to move without pain. The bottle lasted us just over 4 weeks for our 80 pound lab. The instructions read to give 1mg per 10 pounds. We give our dog a dropper full each day.
5. Taste: She doesn't seem to notice the taste when given with a piece of lunch meat. We will continue this.method as it works wonderful.
6. Experience: I watched as my previous chocolate and yellow labs aged. Labs are known for joint issues as they get older. I watched as my chocolate lab could barely walk, then stand up, and eventually be put down because his body had given up on him. I remember the growns he would make trying to move. I just want to provide Josie the best chance at aging as I can.
Dogs don't pick us, we picked them!

CBD Oil and Josie week 10

Well, it's been a while since I wrote an update. In the beginning the changes were fast and easily noticeable. I think we have now reached our plateau. It would be hard to keep writing weekly updates as there aren't many changes from week to week now. I may continue with monthly updates instead.  Labs are prone to bad hips and lose some of their mobility as they age. I watched the loss with a previous lab we owned and eventually he had to be put down. He was 16 years old but his mind was still viable. Putting a dog down who stills understands what you are saying but lacks the ability to even stand anymore is one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever done. Experience is key in life! After we went through it, we made a decision to do the things needed to alivaite some of that pain and suffering for our next dog. No matter the cost! I remind myself, I went and chose Josie, she didn't come pick me out. I owe her the best life I am able to emotionally,  physic

My favorite and least favorite US destinations: Yellowstone National Park

So I have been following where my blog is usually read and surprisingly there are several readers in other countries. So I thought I would put together a list of my favorite and least favorite US destinations I have traveled to. I will split this into a several parts, because frankly I have a lot to say. I have traveled a great deal in my life and feel like I have good insight to share. My family is huge traveling advocates. I could stand on my soap box and tell you all the reasons you need to travel, but if you are reading this I am going to assume you already unstand the value of traveling. Take the trip! So my go to first suggestion to anyone and everyone who asks where I suggest is always and will always be a national park. This one is almost too difficult to include in this list because there are sixty-three of them. Now I haven't been to all of them but the ones I have been to have all been mind blowing and beautiful in their own ways. When in doubt, just visit a

CBD and Josie Week 1

My dog Josie is a 7 year old lab that has started showing her age.  Within the last year after we would go for long walks she would spend the rest of the day laying around sore and tired.  She showed extreme discomfort.  She would want to jump up places and lack the ability to do so.  Her level of play had decreased tremendously.  Her mind would want to run and play fetch but her body would tell her otherwise.  Just after a few rounds of fetch she would retrieve and walk to the door telling us she was done. A week ago we decided to try something new for her.  We have some family that runs a CBD oil shop.  After consulting with them and doing some research on our own, we decided this was worth a shot for our Josie girl.  Though we have only given Josie the oil once a day for a week, I want to say we have seen small changes in her mood.  I want to keep an on going journal of her progress as we try this CBD oil out.  After week one: She shows signs of discomf

CBD a year later

So here we are almost a year later, how is the CBD treatments going? I updated a previous blog with updated information.  After a year most thoughts I had a year ago are still the same.  Remember these feelings I posted months back? Labs are prone to bad hips and lose some of their mobility as they age. I watched the loss with a previous lab we owned and eventually he had to be put down. He was 16 years old but his mind was still viable. Putting a dog down who stills understands what you are saying but lacks the ability to even stand anymore is one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever done. Experience is key in life! After we went through it, we made a decision to do the things needed to reduce some of that pain and suffering for our next dog. No matter the cost! I remind myself, I went and chose Josie, she didn't come pick me out. I owe her the best life I am able to emotionally,  physically, and financially give her.  Yes still strongly feel the same way. Scout's passing, my first heartbreak.

Three years ago my son came back from his freshman year of college and decided he wanted to take a different career path other than college.  After being home a month he decided he was ready to get his own dog. We had a 5 year old lab and didn't think we wanted another dog in the home. We tried and tried to talk my son out of getting a dog. My son is kind of impulsive, does things, and never really thinks anything through. He went one afternoon and picked out a 10 week old lab that some people had leftover from a litter. Since he was already 10 weeks old, they had dropped the price dramatically to just $125 for a full yellow lab. June 2018 Scout became a part of our family whether my husband or I were ready. It is hard not to love a puppy but we both knew the struggles coming with training, house breaking, and chewing.  My son being a 19 year old who thought he knew everything quickly realized how little he knew and how stubborn Scout could be. I had never seen a dog dr

My favorite and least favorite US destinations: Hershey, PA

Hershey, PA sounds like the place should be as magically as Disney World right? This is the place Milton Hershey invented what we know today we Hershey chocolate. I had envisioned a magically town that would draw millions of visitors a year.  The town: When you first pull I to town there is a cute welcoming sign with chocolate candy bar characters, misleading you to think the rest of the town is decorated much like the sign. There are light poles that have what resemble Hershey Kisses on the top. Again misleading because these two things are about the only things that give any indication that you are in Hershey, PA. If you choose not to stay at the Hershey hotel and pay a small fortune to do so, then you will most likely be driving 10-20 minutes in and out of town to stay at another hotel. We stayed at a Holiday Inn in a neighboring community and had everyone in our dance studio's credit card information stolen and used fraudulently the same day as we checked in. Most o
